Science SARU’s new TV anime THE GHOST IN THE SHELL is officially set to premiere in July 2026. With its first and second key visuals already revealed alongside two promotional videos, the upcoming series is quickly building momentum among fans worldwide.

Based on Shirow Masamune’s original manga, THE GHOST IN THE SHELL returns as the latest TV anime entry in the franchise. Set in a near future shaped by advanced information networks and cybernetic technology, the series follows Motoko Kusanagi and Public Security Section 9 as they confront cybercrime in a hyper-connected world. The anime is produced by Science SARU and is scheduled to begin broadcasting in July 2026 on Kansai TV / Fuji TV’s nationwide Tuesday 11:00 PM block in Japan.
New Key Visuals, New Trailers, and Global Attention

The first key visual and first promotional video were unveiled on January 30, 2026, introducing the series with new footage and a visual centered on Motoko Kusanagi. On March 28, 2026, the production team revealed Key Visual 02 and PV 02, with the second visual highlighting Motoko alongside Fuchikoma as a modern homage to the franchise’s most iconic imagery. Momentum grew further on April 2, 2026, when the anime was officially selected for the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026 in the Special Events program, where episodes 1 and 2 are set for a world premiere screening. The official announcement also states that the series will begin its global streaming rollout on Prime Video in July 2026.
